Carrie Hack is a ceramic artist originally from Baldwinsville, New York.  She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Ceramics from the State University of New York at New Paltz in 2014.  She currently works for Kohler's Kitchen and Bath Industrial Design team as an Engineering Analyst for Surface Design.

Carrie's thesis body of work explores an extremely specialized process aimed to capture the markings of a place within the parameters of time upon a ceramic vessel.  By combining practices of traditional film photography and ceramic studies, she creates unique lighted porcelain vessels which embody the human experience of making and nature's ability of marking through light.  The tension between mechanical human production and nature's organic markings is captured beautifully through hand jiggered prototypes and traditional ceramic slipcast methods, and is finished with a handmade multiple pinhole camera designed specially for the unique vessel's exposure.  Her interest in memory, place and time is explored within fine art as she aims to cause reflection within a lifestyle where people are often too busy to stop and appreicate the beauty within a moment.

While at the State University of New York at New Paltz, Carrie also managed a 4-year Varsity Volleyball Career as the team's starting Libero for those 4 years, setting the highest number of digs in the History of the Program.  She was the recipient of many academic and athletic achievement awards as she balanced a high GPA with high level competition.  She is an AVCA Div. III All- American Honorable Mention, and also was a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor's Society in school.  As a captain during her senior year her team returned to the NCAA tournament finishing as one of the top 16 teams across the nation for the second year in a row.  Carrie approaches athletic competition and craft with strong dedication and technicality, holding a strong passion for both outlets in her life.
